Title IX Overview

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Title IX covers a broad range of educational activities, including admissions, financial aid, academic programs, student services, counseling, and athletics.

Prohibition on Sex Discrimination

Rooted School Cleveland prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment and sexual violence, in all of its educational programs and activities. This prohibition applies to students, employees, applicants for admission, applicants for employment, and all other participants in school programs and activities.

Reporting a Complaint

Any person who believes they have experienced or witnessed sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, may file a complaint with the school's Title IX Coordinator. Complaints will be investigated promptly and equitably. The school prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or participates in an investigation.

Grievance Procedures

Rooted School Cleveland will establish and publish Title IX grievance procedures prior to opening. These procedures will provide for prompt and equitable resolution of complaints alleging any action that would be prohibited by Title IX.
